Who is HEYA for

HEYA works best for students who have potential, motivation, and enough emotional stability to benefit from a high-expectation, personalized learning environment.

WHO THRIVES AT HEYA

Curiosity, drive, and the willingness to grow.

Students do not need perfect discipline, perfect grades, or a fixed dream yet: they may be gifted, bored, sensitive, neurodivergent, anxious, or still searching for direction.

WHO MAY NOT BE A GOOD FIT

HEYA is not a therapeutic school or behavioral intervention center.
We may not be the right fit for students who require intensive clinical support, crisis management, or a highly specialized special education environment.

Admission Process

Admission is based on fit, readiness, and support needs.

1

Inquiry and consultation

We start with a conversation to understand your child’s needs, goals, and whether HEYA is the right fit before any paperwork begins.

2

Application

and document review

Submit the application form along with student and parent ID, school reports and transcripts, and a portfolio or specialist reports if you have them.

3

HEYA

assessment

A family interview, student interview, placement test, and academic records review help us understand how your child learns and where they need support.

4

Pathway recommendation

Using the assessment, we draft a proposed pathway, schedule, and support plan, then walk through it together and adjust until it fits.

5

Enrollment and onboarding

Once we’re aligned, submit final documents and the good-faith deposit to confirm your child’s place, then begin orientation into HEYA.

School and College Ability Test (JHU-CTY)

SCAT Test

Candidates also enrolling in the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth program sit the SCAT on-site at HEYA, proctored by our team, and aim for the 95th percentile. Results arrive within two weeks and are recognized by gifted programs worldwide.

Not mandatory for all students.  Retakes and a prep program are available

OPTIONAL

Admission preparation courses

Onboarding begins 3–6 months before a student’s start date. HEYA requires at least one prep track for students transitioning from traditional school or homeschool.

SCAT test prep

Familiarize with the reasoning test format ahead of sitting the SCAT.

English prep

Reading, writing, listening,

speaking — PBL-focused to match HEYA’s model.

Transitional program

Shifts mindset from traditional schooling toward self-directed, inquiry-based learning.
