Throughout this course of six sixty minute sessions students will learn various techniques for effective public speaking. We will look into what makes a good speech through focusing on public speaking acronyms, such as eye contact, body language and speed of speech. Throughout the course students will partake in various activities such as role play, improvisation, observing effective and ineffective public speaking and how to overcome stage fright. They will learn how to apply these to their final presentation as well as their daily lives. Students will wrap up the course with a final presentation of a topic they feel passionate about to present to their peers and parents. Class 1: Introduction - Introduction to the class - What is public speaking? Let’s discuss - Let’s look at some cool Kids ted talks showing good public speaking we will then look at not so good public speaking examples. Class 2 : Introduction to Public Speaking Acronyms - BEBES – most important part of the course - Body Language - Eye contact - Being audible - Energy/Emotion when speaking - Speed Class 3: Recap of lesson 2 and some games to practice good body language Class 4: Lest start writing our final speech! - Students will start to write their speech using all the techniques learnt in lesson 1-3. Class 5: Finalizing their speech - How to over come shyness and stage fright - They will pair up and perform their speech to each other and give positive and constructive feedback. Class 6: Lets present! - Students will present their final speech to their peers and parents in this class.
